On the positive role of contagious fear, human and animal empathy and preparing for the unexpected in an interview with Asst. Prof. Ewelina Knapska, Head of the Laboratory of Emotions Neurobiology at Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, PAS. She is the leader of ERC Starting Grant project on the control of the amygdala over socially transferred positive and negative emotions.
On 28 July 2016, PAS representatives participated in the 4th Europe Congress of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) in Liège. Prof. Paweł Rowiński, Vice-President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, was elected Vice-Chair of the IAHR Europe Division Executive Committee for 2016–2017 term.
Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek (Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences) and Prof. Andrzej Dziembowski (PAS Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics) are among 9 research leaders to have won the first competition in TEAM program run by the Foundation for Polish Science, offering support to teams engaging in ground-breaking research.
