On November 22nd, 2017, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted a patent (application number US 15/106,163) for an invention entitled: “A method for detecting an increased risk of developing skin cancer and a use of a genotype variant of the GRHL3 gene”.
On February 1st, 2018 Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń was nominated for the position of the Director of the Nencki Institute. The nomination was signed by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, which came about as a result of an open recruitment procedure.
NASA and European Space Agency are preparing for another great mission to explore the Red Planet as part of the InSight project. A space probe will carry out geophysical and seismological field studies on Mars. Its goal is to examine the nature of the planet’s nucleus, which will be helpful in preparing the ground for sending the first manned mission to Mars.
