On 20 March 2018 the Polish Academy of Sciences hosted Experts of the Research, Innovation and Science Policy (RISE) Group. The RISE experts advise the Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas. The event was chaired by Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, President of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Dr Daria Gołębiowska-Tataj, Chair of the RISE Group.

The day of January 30th , 2018 was the last day of the exhibition "Bioimagine: Inspiration of Invisible World?” at the Nencki Institute PAS. However, on January 17th , 2018 the Director of the Institute prof. Adam Szewczyk, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Nencki Institute PAS, established a new library collection under the name: "Nencki Art Collection".
On January 17th, 2018, a ceremony was held, during which the Director of the Nencki Institute, prof. Adam Szewczyk, in acknowledgment of special merits for the development of the Nencki Institute, handed out the medals to prof. Jerzy Puchalski and prof. Wiesław Bogdanowicz. Prof. Puchalski was in charge of the Botanical Garden PAS in Powsin for almost 28 years.
On November 22nd, 2017, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted a patent (application number US 15/106,163) for an invention entitled: “A method for detecting an increased risk of developing skin cancer and a use of a genotype variant of the GRHL3 gene”.
On February 1st, 2018 Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń was nominated for the position of the Director of the Nencki Institute. The nomination was signed by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, which came about as a result of an open recruitment procedure.
