On 25th October 2018 members of the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences reelected prof. Jerzy Duszyński as the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The second term of Prof. Jerzy Duszynski presidency will last until 2022. Congratulations!
On October 19th 2018, in in the main lecture hall of the Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics of Biomedical Engineering, the ceremony for the inauguration of the Academic Year 2018/2019 of the Ochota Biocentre took place. During the ceremony, the directors of individual Institutes presented ‘doctorate cum laude’ awards for the authors of the best doctoral dissertations in the last academic year.
On October 10th 2018, the winners of the ‘Golden Scalpel 2018’ competition have been announced. 2nd place has been awarded to the BIONIC PANCREAS project carried out by the consortium: Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology (Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń), Foundation of Research and Innovation (dr hab. On 15 October 2018 in Wrocław the President of Academia Europaea, Professor Sierd Cloetingh and the Mayor of Wrocław, Rafał Dutkiewicz signed an official Framework Agreement for the Continuation of Academia Europaea Knowledge Hub in Wrocław for another two years.

Now everyone can become co-creator and co-user of the largest detector of cosmic ray particles in history – as well as a potential co-discoverer. All you need is a smartphone and the CREDO Detector application turned on overnight. Under development for over two years, the CREDO project is entering the era of its maturity. Today, at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Cracow, the “first light” of the detector was presented, that is, the first data of scientific value, collected by the smartphones of project participants from around 20 countries.

For the 100th anniversary of the Nencki Institute, the Research Station in Mikołajki gained not only a new name but also initiated a new tradition – the Tree Avenue of the Nencki Institute was launched. Three trees were planted for a good start, including plane tree, Ambrose and tulip tree.
