Information for applicants

The PASIFIC programme is open to excellent and experienced researchers at postdoctoral level, of any nationality and representing any field of research. Interested applicants must comply with the MSCA mobility rule: they must have not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Poland for a period of more than 12 months during the three years immediately prior to the call’s deadline. In the framework of  the PASIFIC programme up to 50 fellows will be recruited through two calls.

Why to apply?

Each PASIFIC fellow will be hosted at one of the PAS institutes for a period of 2 years. Successful candidates will be provided with excellent conditions to carry out their research projects. Fellows will be offered a monthly allowance of 4 125 EUR and, if applicable a family allowance (300 EUR/month). PASIFIC will also provide a budget for research up to 60 000 EUR per project.

Fellows will benefit from the comprehensive mentoring and training offer providing a variety of development opportunities:

1) a supervised individual research project together with a Career Development Plan defining long-term goals and research directions.;

2) scientific and complementary trainings at the respective Host Institutes within PAS;

3) a wide offer of trainings and workshops tackling issues such as funding opportunities in Poland and Europe, writing effective applications for research grants, project management, intellectual property rights as well as Open Science;

4) optionally, up to 6 months of secondments to the non-academic sector or short visits to research and non-academic organisations worldwide resulting in intersectoral and interdisciplinary transfer of knowledge.

Who can apply?

The eligibility criteria are the following:

  • At the deadline of the call, an applicant must be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of Full-Time Equivalent research experience. Parental leave periods do not count towards the time of research experience. The Full-Time Equivalent Research Experience is measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree entitling him/her to embark on a doctorate program, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in Poland, even if a doctorate program was never started or envisaged.
  • PASIFIC calls are open to candidates of any nationality, who have not been a resident of Poland and have not carried out their main activities (work, studies, etc.) in Poland for more than 12 months within the period of three years immediately prior to the time of deadline of the call.

How to choose the Host Institution and a Supervisor?

The PASIFIC Fellows will be offered a two-year contract and they will be based at one of the 68 institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences of their choice. More information about institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences can be found here:

Before applying, you need to identify a suitable PAS institute and academic mentor who will commit to support your research.
