PAS and Taiwan cooperation

The authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences met with the representatives of Taiwanese scientists during 2022 Taiwan-Poland Higher Education Forum. Its participants talked about scholarship program for Ukrainian researchers and future academic and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

19 representatives of scientific institutions in Taiwan came to Warsaw. Among them were: Dr. Mon-Chi Lio, Political Deputy Minister of Education in Taiwan, Amb. Bob L. J. Chen, Head of Taipei Representative Office in Poland, the authorities of Taiwanese universities, and the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education in Taiwan (FICHET).

The main focus of the meeting was put on the possibilities of academic and scientific cooperation between Taiwan and Poland. Professor Jerzy DuszyƄski, President of the Polish Academy of Sciences thanked for the support that Taiwan provides to Ukrainian scientists in Poland. For instance the National Cheng Kung University and the National Council of Science and Technology of Taiwan offer 3-month fellowships to Ukrainian researchers holding doctoral degree. Minister Mon-Chi Lio, in turn, appreciated the support and hospitality that Poles have showed to Ukrainian scientists. He also assured that Ukrainian scholars could continue their research in Taiwan.

The participants noticed the need to increase the number of representatives of the humanities in exchange programs between the two countries. Both sides expressed their hope for the continuation of cooperation as part of the Taiwan-Poland Higher Education Forum.
