Members of the Polish Academy of Sciences

The Academy itself is composed of national members (including both ordinary and corresponding members) and foreign members. All members (national and foreign) are elected by the General Assembly from among candidates with the highest scientific achievements and recognized authority. Academy membership is conferred for life.

As of 31 December 2019, the Academy included 298 national members (154 ordinary and 144 coressponding members) and 181 foreign members. Among national members, 47 belonged to Division I: Humanities and Social Sciences, 68 – to Division II: Biological and Agricultural Sciences, 80 – to Division III: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Sciences, 69 – to Division IV: Engineering Sciences, and 34 – to Division V: Medical Sciences.
