The Branch was established on December 18, 1970. The Branch operates in the region of the Dolny Śląsk Voivodship covering the disciplines set forth in the statute of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The key objective of the Branch is to integrate the scientific community in Wrocław, popularize science, cooperate with local PAN units, and represent the Academy’s scholars and scientists in contacts with the local government. The Branch acts through 18 scientific committees representing individual fields of science, which organize conferences and scientific meetings, provide ongoing support for the Educational Center and the Open University of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and issue both periodicals and single publications.
