Polish Young Academy selects new authorities

The Polish Young Academy has chosen new authorities.Dr Jacek Kolanowski from the PAS Institute of Bioorganic Chemistrybecame the new chairman, whileAssoc. Prof.Marta Gmurek from the Lodz University of Technology and Assoc. Prof. Jan Poleszczuk from the PAS Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering were nominated as his deputies.

The newly elected will take the office on December 15, 2021 and will remain in office until June 30, 2024.

The Polish Young Academy (PYA) was established in 2010 within corporate structures of the Polish Academy of Sciences.It brings together talented researchers of the young generation.The PYA focus its efforts on stimulating the community of young researchers and promoting science. It alsotakes a stance on important matters related to science and higher education.

The PYA members are elected by the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Candidates for PYA members may not be more than 38 years oldwhen elected and they must hold at least a doctoral degree.This year, Polish Young Academy celebrated its 10th anniversary.
