PAS Medal for the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Kajetany

Prof. Romuald Zabielski, vice-president of the Polish Academy of Sciences, presented PAS Medal to the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Kajetany during the „Health of Poles” 2020 Congress. The Medal was awarded in recognition of Institute’s achievements in modern audiology and surgery, including the development of screening programs for patients with hearing, voice and speech disorders.

"The Institute, headed by Professor Henryk Skarżyński since 1996, has been setting global standards in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss for many years," emphasized Prof. Romuald Zabielski in his speech at the "Health of Poles” 2020 Congress.

Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing

The Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing is a leading Polish research institute and a highly specialized hospital providing a comprehensive speech and hearing care for patients with congenital and acquired hearing loss. Its main unit – World Hearing Center – performs around 20 000 surgical procedures anuualy. The Center is also a global leader in cochlear implant surgery, so far 10 000 implantations have been carried out. Moreover, an Educational Center with a unique laboratory equipped with 20 clinical facilities for otosurgery and rhinosurgery operates within the Institute.

Health of Poles 2020

The "Health of Poles 2020" Congress is a joint initiative of the PAS Committee on Clinical Sciences, the Main Council of the Research Institutes, the World Hearing Center in Kajetany and numerous teams of experts and specialists in many fields, scientific societies and non-governmental organizations. One of the congress objectives is setting out the operational strategy for various bodies, such as state and local institutions, research and clinical units, as well as expert and patient advocacy groups that are involved in shaping pro-health attitudes.
