Members of the Interdisciplinary Advisory Group for Climate Crisis appointed by the President of PAS

On 20 April 2020 the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Professor Jerzy Duszyński appointed thirteen members of the Interdisciplinary Advisory Group for Climate Crisis.

The main task of the Group will be to provide the support of science in reaching climate neutrality, i.e. 45 % emission reduction in Poland till 2030 (in relation to the year 2010) and 0 emission in 2050, in accordance with the IPCC guidelines.

The members of the Group will be engaged in particular in:

  • presenting the position of science on the necessity to undertake immediate actions in order to limit climate crisis and its effects;
  • supporting the elaboration of the State’s action plan for the effective and economically and socially controlled emission reduction, as well as for the management of the transformation process towards the zero-emission economy;
  • building a scientific base in support of the grassroots initiatives focused on climate crises and social, economic and business activities.

The Group will also support the Authorities of the Academy in the discussions regarding EU policies in the field of research and innovation, in particular as regards the European Green Deal or specific instruments under the Horizon Europe programme (e. g. Missions).
