Visegrad Group Academies Forum

On 11-13 September 2018 the delegation of the Polish Academy of Sciences, headed by its president Jerzy Duszyński, took part in the annual Visegrad Group Academies Forum, which was organised by the Czech Academy of Sciences in Liblice near Prague.

The Forum was also attended by observers: the presidents of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the representative of the Royal Society of London. The participants of the Forum discussed, among others, about the recent changes in their Academies, their priorities in international cooperation and about measures to increase the success rate in H 2020, FP 9 and ERC programmes. Much attention during the debates was devoted to the issue of unfavourable proportion of women in the V4 Academies of Sciences. The Forum was concluded with a Prize ceremony and presentations by the laureates of the Young Researcher Award which this year was conferred in the field of mediaeval history. The winner of the Polish part of the 2018 competition is dr Anna Paulina Orłowska from the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
