Meeting with the Ukrainian scholars currently at the PAS

The representatives of the Polish Academy of Sciences, U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) met with the displaced scholars from Ukraine.

The meeting, held on April 4, 2022 at the Institute of Physics of the PAS, served to present support programs for researchers and to discuss how to support Ukrainian researchers currently in Poland. 

The presented initiatives included: 

  • Support program carried out jointly by the Polish Academy of Sciences and the US National Academy of Sciences: Dr Anna Plater-Zyberk, director of the International Cooperation Department PAS, Dr Vaughan Turekian, Executive Director, Policy & Global Affairs NAS and Dr Franklin Carerro-Martinez, Senior Director, Global Sustainability NAS 
  • Solidarity with Ukraine” and other activities supporting researchers from Ukraine conducted by NAWA: Olekdandr Zakharchuk – chief specialist for communication and promotion at NAWA 
  • #ScienceforUkraine – a bottom-up initiative, enabling to collect and disseminate information about support opportunities for scientists with Ukrainian affiliation: Dr Maciej Maryl, Director of the Digital Humanities Centre at the Institute of Literary Research of the PAS.  

The meeting was concluded with a discussion with the scholars.
